Santa Claus is Coming!!!!
Downtown Aurora, Colorado -- The Northern Aurora Business Association is preparing to FLY
SANTA and MRS. CLAUS into downtown Aurora.
Each year, children of all ages wait anxiously for the KMGH Channel 7 HELICOPTER
flown by Rich Westra to descend into Aurora City Park located at 16th and Dayton. Members
of Aurora’s safety and law enforcement communities help keep onlookers
safe while Santa arrives by air on Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 5pm.
SANTA and MRS. CLAUS then walk with the hundreds of children (and
parents) south on Emporia Street in front of the NEW Florence Square
Project, across Colfax Avenue to FLETCHER PLAZA at Colfax and Emporia,
south side. There will also be the 19th Annual COMMUNITY
TREE LIGHTING ceremony where Aurora City Councilwoman Sue
Sandstrom will light the beautiful Community Tree donated by Nick’s
Nursery.
Children then have the opportunity to whisper their Christmas requests
to SANTA and MRS. CLAUS at the NEW Martin Luther King Jr. Library
at 9898 E. Colfax Avenue, receive goodies from the elves, and enjoy
the brightly lit FLETCHER PLAZA. The
library will be open so that after the children see Santa they can
check out a book or video or get their library card! Santa loves
children to read! Plan to join Aurora City Councilwoman Sue Sandstrom,
Santa and Mrs. Claus in welcoming everyone as we celebrate the beginning
of the Holiday Season in Original Aurora!
While
you are downtown please notice the beautiful holiday decorations
that light up the East Colfax Corridor bringing the Holiday spirit
to downtown Aurora. Why is this event so important?! It unites children
of all ages in a ceremony of celebration that breaches all cultural
and financial barriers. Families come together regardless of race
or language exemplifying Aurora’s rich diversity.
Please come and join us as we welcome the Holiday Season
and be sure to shop Downtown Aurora!
